Projects and Needs

 (In US $)

PROJECT 1:  GRANTS FOR NEEDY STUDENTS
Most of our students come from low income families.  Though basic living costs -- food, shared dorm room, and school with small classes -- are almost covered by government funding, many students dream of purchasing their own grooming lotions, an occasional slice of pizza on school outings, a new pair of shoes each year, selecting their own winter coat, or other basic needs. Please consider a grant for this.  The recipient child´s story (with name changed) can be sent to you.

PROJECT 2: CLOSING LEARNING GAPS Some students arrive with significant gaps in their learning. This funding is used for professional evaluations and enhanced tutoring services. We also hope to expand our learning center (approx $100,000) as a place where students can receive the additional support they require (namable).

PROJECT 3:  CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Music Lessons for individual or small groups of students
Sponsorship of a choir, guitar group, or other performing group
Trips to visit sites throughout Israel for new immigrant youth without family in Israel
Cultural/Performing Arts Center at the village (namable)

PROJECT 4: DINING HALL RENOVATION
Our dining hall is a central meeting place, used throughout the day, for all of the students, faculty, and staff at the village. Kosher meals are provided every day of the week, including Shabbat and holidays. (namable - $575,000)

PROJECT 5: ENHANCED THERAPUTIC SERVICES
Since the Coronavirus pandemic, we have seen a sharp decline in mental health among our students. Art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, dog therapy are all avenues for our students to reconnect with themselves. This is particularly important for new immigrant youth who don´t yet have the Hebrew language ability to communicate using talk therapy.

PROJECT 6: SPORT AND HEALTH
Refurbish, and/or provide equipment for the Fitness Center
After-school Sports Activities:  Martial Arts, Basketball, HipHop, Dance
Running Track ($50,000)
Enlarged Climbing Wall ($43,000)

PROJECT 7:  WELCOME CENTER FOR ECOLOGY AND ENTERPRISE
Our students are making wine, baking healthy breads, and growing delicious organic produce. We would love to have an ecological center, located at the village´s agricultural nature center, at which to sell the vegetables and products produced by our youth. Students can expand their microenterprises and showcase the bounty of the village. (namable - $430,000)

PROJECT 8:  SUPPORT FOR GRADUATES POST-ARMY
When students from difficult backgrounds graduate, many are still without financial and other resources.  The Village provides ongoing support in the form of advocacy with the Israel Defense Forces, post-secondary studies, and emotional support.  We also have housing on campus for up to four students.  We rely on generous donors to provide:
  • College or vocational scholarships (post-Army service) -- $1000 - 1,200 per graduate recommended
  • Counselling
  • Other specific needs, including medical and dental
