Projects and Needs

 (In US $)

PROJECT 1:  GRANTS FOR NEEDY STUDENTS
Most of our students come from low income families.  Though basic living costs -- food, shared dorm room, and school with small classes -- are almost covered by government funding, many students dream of purchasing their own grooming lotions, an occasional slice of pizza on school outings, a new pair of shoes each year, selecting their own winter coat, or other basic needs. Please consider a grant for this.  The recipient child´s story (with name changed) can be sent to you.

PROJECT 2: LAPTOPS FOR NEEDY STUDENTS so they can study remotely -- essential these days.

PROJECT 3:  CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Music Lessons for individual or small groups of students
Sponsorship of a choir, guitar group, or other performing group
New Music Practice Rooms (2 needed, nameable)
Dance Center (nameable)

PROJECT 4: LEARNING ASSESSMENTS
Many students need specialized educational and psychological evaluations.  This is not covered by the government, but critical to a child´s success.

PROJECT 5: BNAI MITZVAH TWINNING
Provide a donation for a low-income student age 12/13 so they can celebrate as others do

PROJECT 6: SPORT AND HEALTH
Refurbish, and/or provide equipment for the Fitness Center
After-school Sports Activities:  Martial Arts, Basketball, HipHop, Dance

PROJECT 7:  PRE-ARMY SUPPORT
Many students -- at the Village and in general in Israel -- opt to participate in a "Mechina", a year of physical and emotional training, plus community service in specific frameworks throughout the country, to become truly mature enough for the Army and for life.   The government subsidizes part of them, but the rest must be paid for by parents.  Most parents of the Village graduates cannot afford the 5000 - 10000 NIS ($1500 - $2800) per year.

PROJECT 8:  SUPPORT FOR GRADUATES POST-ARMY
When students from difficult backgrounds graduate, many are still without financial and other resources.  The Village provides ongoing support in the form of advocacy with the Israel Defense Forces, post-secondary studies, and emotional support.  We also have housing on campus for up to four students.  We rely on generous donors to provide:
  • College or vocational scholarships (post-Army service) -- $1000 - 1,200 per graduate recommended
  • Counselling
  • Other specific needs, including medical and dental
